It’s been a long road to get here, all told. As I release this final Into Vermilion book into the wild, it feels like I’m laying a part of myself to rest. As I’ve talked about often, Into Vermilion is a very special story to me. Coming off the tail of writing The Warren Brood, this was the story I chose to write to explore darker aspects of humanity, not just because I could, but because I had something to say about this world we live in.
At its core, Into Vermilion is a story about human fragility, and how hate warps a person unrecognizable. It’s about forgiveness and how we choose to dole it out, about judgment and those who are permitted to pass it. It’s a story about tyranny and revenge and vulnerability, about the line between right and wrong. And perhaps most importantly, it’s about how love transcends the walls we try to build.
I sincerely hope you all enjoy the capstone to this series half as much as I enjoyed writing it. Until next the moon rises, friends!
